Phase equilibrium and dissociation enthalpies of CO2/cyclopentane hydrates in presence of salts for water treatment and CO2 capture: New experimental data and modeling

The applications of clathrate hydrates on carbon dioxide capture and desalination is an attractive growing subject within the hydrate community. While many promoters exists to overcome numerous issues hydrate-based technologies (mostly how mild operating conditions improve kinetics), there a need find guest that could be recovered easily. That why cyclopentane (CP), organic molecule not miscible into water can form under atmospheric pressure at 7 °C, has been studied widely in literature. However, its behavior forming mixed with CO2 presence salts still well understood. This work effort investigate thermodynamics CO2/CP fulfill gap this field from thermodynamic point view. In effort, new equilibrium data (NaCl-KCl, MgCl2, CaCl2 which are among main factors hard water) have obtained different concentrations pressures. Final dissociation points as intermediate metastable were obtained. Furthermore, consistency tests performed our literature discuss their reliability. test important question idea since we suspect previous formation several structures. Finally, three modeling approaches considered: van der Waals Platteeuw (vdW-P) approach, Hu-Lee-Sum (HLS) correlation, ice melting method derived HLS proposition.
